Damon Hay (played by Ciaran Griffiths) was recently caught by police after he began funnelling drugs through Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Leanne Battersby’s (Jane Danson) restaurant The Bistro. However, official Coronation Street spoilers reveal Damon resurfaces in Wethersfield and could be set to drag down a family who have just got back on their feet.

Before being arrested, Damon had managed to get his claws deep into Nick’s family and struck up an unlikely friendship with his son Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan).

Sam didn’t know Damon was Harvey Gaskell’s (Will Mellor) brother who killed his mother Natasha Blakeman (Rachel Leskovac).

When Sam found out Damon had been arrested and his father had been working with him, as well as taking a loan from his mother’s killer, he was furious.

Leanne was also left betrayed by Nick’s actions and decided she needed some space from him, kicking him out of the house.

Official spoilers reveal Damon’s return will cause more havoc for the family in Weathefield, but Corrie boss Ian MacLeod alluded to Damon “upending” another family.

Speaking to Express.co.uk and other press, Ian explained: “He is a dangerous character at first he might seem that he’s a kind of a more sophisticated operator than Harvey a bit less of a blunt instrument.

“But actually what we discover is that a more polished, sort of jovial veneer, is just masking something that’s every bit as dangerous and as brutal as Harvey is.

“So yeah, he upends a lot of people’s lives and really brings some criminality into a family that can probably do with moving on from their past.

“But suddenly, wham they’re right back in the mess again, thanks to him and as the year goes on, there’s something about a bad boy isn’t there?

“I think it’s fair to say and he’s got this kind of magnetic attractions for a notable high-profile female character in the show.

“Who ends up having a head turned in a way that has very far-reaching consequences.”

Last year, Abi Franklin (Sally Carman) had a whirlwind time after she relapsed, found out she was pregnant after a one-night stand with Imran Habeeb (Charlie De Melo) and nearly lost her relationship with Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell).

Could Abi fall into Damon’s trap and lose everything once again if she gets in on his drug business?

Will this be her final downfall if she relapses once more?

When speaking about Abi, Ian added: “It would be a massive culture clash, Abi, who’s you know, despite the fact we’ve smoothed out some of the rough edges is still rough.”

Another relationship which could be on the rocks is between Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) and Adam Barlow (Samuel Robertson).

Adam agrees to help Damon and becomes his solicitor which leaves Sarah furious at first, but soon falls for his charming ways.

Actress Tina O’Brien recently told Metro.co.uk: “I think there probably is an attraction there. It’s that freedom that he doesn’t know anything about her life.

“I’ve been trying to find some moral reason as to why Sarah would behave in this way and actually I’m not really sure there is one.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
