Coronation Street's Antony Cotton has a famous mum who graced the cobbles before he made soap debut | The Sun

ANTONY Cotton might be a mainstay of the Corrie cobbles but he isn’t the only member of his family to walk down the infamous street. 

Coronation Street fans might be surprised to learn that Antony’s mum has also graced the cobbles and not just once either.


Antony has plays hapless Sean Tully since 2003 and has seen his fair share of drama over his near two decades on the ITV soap opera.

From hopelessness to fatherhood to failed romances, Sean hasnt had the best luck on the street. 

But his mum, Enid Dunn has also held down a job on the cobbles. 

Enid appeared on the show a year before her son in 2002 when she played Dennis Stringer's aunt Joan Lawson in January 2002 at the character's funeral.

She next appeared in 2006 in a minor role as a character credited as Old Crone.

The Bury-based actress didn’t stop there, next portraying a woman bumped into by the serial killer John Stape.

The actress appeared for the last time in 2014 as bingo player Maureen Rothwell.

Amongst her impressive four stints on the main show, Enid appeared in the 2010 spin-off TV movie, The Road To Coronation Street.

The one-off documented how the iconic soap came to fruition portraying the real-life story of creator Tony Warren’s vision. 

Enid portrayed Granada Television tea lady Agnes, who had an iconic scene in the show when she told creator Tony that his planned title Florizel Street sounded like a disinfectant causing him to change it.

Alongside her number of Corrie appearances, Enid has also appeared in shows like Cutting It, No Offence, Shameless and Bancroft as well as playing the barmaid Joyce in the fan favourite Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights.
