Coronation Street: Paul struggles to lift his wine glass
Coronation Street actor Peter Ash has opened up about the guilt Paul feels after he betrays his new husband Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank).
Ever since he was diagnosed with MND earlier this year, viewers of the ITV soap have seen Paul’s symptoms get worse as he’s recently started using a wheelchair to deal with his mobility issues.
With there being no cure for the condition, fans know Paul’s tragic storyline will end in death, although the Weatherfield resident toyed with the idea of assisted dying.
Opening up to partner Billy about the subject a while ago, it was clear he was strongly against the idea and it was soon put to bed.
However, following the death of his friend Shelley Rossington (Natalie Amber), Paul confided in Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) that he wanted his help instead of Billy following his strong disagreement with it.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other media publications, the soap star detailed Paul’s future plans.
When asked if he feels bad allowing Billy to think he’s squashed the idea of assisted dying, he admitted he does.
Peter said: “Yeah, he will have the guilt of hiding something from Billy, but the reason for that is he knows how Billy would react.
“Obviously, they have talked about it when it was brought up earlier and it was squashed when they decided to get married.

“Paul really wants to do that before he can’t speak anymore or do the little things.
“Knowing that Shelley was alone at the end, Paul wants it to be on his terms.”
Although Billy’s yet to find out about Paul’s plan to end his life on his own timing, the pair are set for a huge celebration in the soap next week.
Official spoilers reveal the pair are set to tie the knot next week in the Bistro as Paul’s sister and mum help him walk down the aisle.
After saying their vows, the wedding guests celebrate for the duo as they take in the joyous moment.
However, Billy’s stunned when he discovers Paul has been keeping a huge secret from him.
