Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman suffers nasty fall as his health declines

Coronation street star calls Rob Burrows an inspiration following his set visit

Recently, Coronation Street viewers saw Paul Foreman’s (played by Peter Ash) family and friends learn about his Motor Neuron Disease diagnosis after his initial reluctance to tell everybody.

Wanting to enjoy their time together before his symptoms got worse, Paul and his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) took a small trip away.

However, as the duo return in upcoming scenes, it looks as though his health is starting to decline further.

In scenes set to air next week, fans of the ITV soap will see Paul get off the bus with a bag full of shopping.

Although the moment he tries to get off, his leg gives way and he has a nasty fall landing on the pavement.

Spotting the tumble, his mum Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) goes rushing over to help Paul who’s emotional after the fall.

Trying to comfort Paul she suggests that he try out her crystal therapy, which after some persuasion he agrees to.

Despite agreeing to his mum’s offer, Paul was left reeling with her after learning she had been looking into a Personal Independence Payment on his behalf.

Although she had his best intentions in mind, he confronted her and made it clear her fundraising attempts were humiliating.

As MND increasingly cuts down life expectancy Coronation Street viewers know that Paul’s time in the cobbles is limited.

Despite an exit date not yet confirmed, soap star Daniel Brocklebank told Express.co.uk the cast is already grieving Paul and the actor who plays him.

He said: “It’s funny, you know, even though you know, of course we know it’s not real.

“But also knowing that Pete’s time in the show is now coming to an end, there is a deep sadness in that.

“I mean, Jane Hazelgrove who obviously plays Bernie, Jane can’t keep her b****y eyes dry at all.

“Like, you know, she sees Pete limping onto the set and she’s welling up.

“We’re grieving Peter leaving rather than Peter thankfully, not dying. The emotions are genuine.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
