Coronation Street’s Stephen Reid actor Todd Boyce unrecognisable after grisly soap exit

Coronation Street star Todd Boyce has stunned fans with a new look after his dramatic exit from the ITV soap.

The 62 year old actor played dastardly serial killer Stephen Reid on the cobbles but his reign of terror finally came to a grisly end during Super Soap Week last month. Fans were left gobsmacked as the evil villain turned on his own family in a bid to flee the country before being mown down and killed by Peter Barlow in his car.

Since his Weatherfield exit, Todd has been keeping fans updated on what he has been up to on social media. And his latest post has left his followers opened mouthed – as he looks totally unrecognisable from his Coronation Street character.

Todd posted a picture of himself to Instagram with long hair, a goatee and wearing a sheriff’s uniform. He took on the look for a role in new video game Alan Wake 2.

As a caption, he wrote: “‘Monsters wear many faces'. Alan Wake 2 – long-awaited sequel is out now – The GAME is a psychological horror story filled with intense suspense & unexpected twists.”

Fans were quick to respond to the post with their messages of shock. One said: “Dang that doesn't look like you!!”

A second added: “I love the new look Todd and I didn’t recognise you. Looking handsome.”

A third wrote: “Omg wouldn’t have even recognised you.” A fourth added: “You look so different.”

Todd first appeared in Coronation Street as Audrey Roberts' illegitimate son Stephen in 1996. He went on to appear in 47 episodes between 1996 and 2007 before returning to the soap in June 2022 ahead of his character’s ultimate demise last month.

Speaking about his permanent exit from Corrie, Todd told the Manchester Evening News: "It's sad on the one hand but it's also gratifying and there is, that overused word, closure. It's an arc of almost 28 years. I started in my thirties and I'm now in my early sixties.

"And I've had three goes and the final go was just a gift from heaven and God, I couldn't have wished for anything more exciting than to be given Stephen and to be given such good writing.”

Last month, Todd revealed he had more acting jobs lined up following his departure from Coronation Street. He told the Birmingham Mail: "I'm dead excited. The last week of November I start rehearsals for panto, which runs the last three weeks of December."

He went on to say that the late theatre producer Bill Kenwright – who also starred in Coronation Street as Gordon Clegg in the 1960s and 1970s – offered him the ‘Laurence Olivier part’ in stage play Sleuth before he passed away late in October.

Todd added: "That's going to be a tour starting in Windsor and doing a tour around London, and then coming to The Lowry here [in Salford]. That's going to take me through to the end of June."
