Coronation Street lines up another emotional week on the eponymous street, with lives on the line, big exits and a major betrayal put in danger of being exposed.
Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) plans to take a step back from helping Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), but when Ryan calls ‘Crystal’, the barmaid adopts her alter-ego’s voice to let him down gently.
The plan, however, backfires, with Ryan resolving to fly to Ibiza to see Crystal, forcing Daisy to take action as she confronts him on the matter. Ryan is confused, wanting to know how she knew he was considering boarding a plane, but Daisy successfully covers her tracks and suggests they go for a walk.
Ryan is thankful for all that Daisy is doing for him but, as they stare at each other, it becomes clear that their feelings run deeper than just friendship.
Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), meanwhile, finds Daisy’s spare phone and records a message for Max Turner (Paddy Bever), who he’s determined to help, suggesting that if there’s anything that’s bothering him, he can record it on the device.
Max watches Daniel’s video but Gav, a mate, demands to know where he got the phone. Max explains that Daniel gave him the device so he could record a journal.
Ryan, meanwhile, begins to feel unwell, rushing to the bathroom to be sick. Desperate for help, he calls ‘Crystal’ and leaves a message, before drifting into unconsciousness. Gav plays Ryan’s voice message and Max listens with concern, knowing Ryan is in danger.
Will Ryan be okay?
Elsewhere on the street, Sarah Barlow (Tina O’Brien) calls at the bistro to find Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths), who kisses her, with one thing leading to another in the office.
Adam (Sam Robertson) and Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), meanwhile, need a meeting about the late license but find the bistro locked, relaying their discovery to Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson), who wonder where Damon has got to.
Damon and Sarah, meanwhile, freeze with fear. Is their sordid secret set to be exposed?
Coronation Street airs these scenes w/c Monday May 8 on ITV1 and ITVX.
