Report: Kevin Costner Exits ‘Yellowstone’ After Season 5

A new report claims that the actor is not returning for season 6 amid behind-the-scenes drama with co-creator Taylor Sheridan over the actor’s filming schedule.

AceShowbizKevin Costner is planning to leave Dunton Ranch. A new report claims that the Oscar-winning actor is not returning for season 6 amid behind-the-scenes drama with co-creator Taylor Sheridan over the actor’s filming commitments to the remaining episodes of the current season 5.

A source additionally shares with Entertainment Tonight that there’s still no update on when the cast and crew are going to return to Montana to film the remaining episodes of season 5. The insider adds that it causes a lot of confusion and frustration.

The new report arrived after it was said that “Yellowstone” will conclude its story after the upcoming second half of its season 5. Multiple sources told New York Post that the decision was made amid an alleged dispute between Kevin and Taylor.

“It’s the same as with any show runner and big star – there’s respect, but there’s friction,” a well-placed production source claimed at the time. Meanwhile, a highly-placed Hollywood source who previously worked with Taylor insinuated that Taylor’s ego might also be the reason for the dispute, spilling, “Taylor is the star of his show. He’s the most important person on all of his shows.”

The alleged tension appeared to be confirmed when Kevin, Taylor and some main cast members of the hit Showtime series were a no-show at PaleyFest back on April 1. They were set to attend the special screening and Q&A at the highly publicized event and joined executive producer David Glassier and “additional guests.” As none of them showed up, the final lineup eventually consisted of Josh Luca, Mo Brings Plenty, Dawn Olivieri and Wendy Moniz.

It was previously said that the behind-the-scenes dispute between Kevin and Taylor involved disagreements over schedules. The actor allegedly agreed to allot himself 65 days to film the first part of the show’s current fifth season, but later changed his mind and wanted to film for 50 days only. He also wanted to limit it to just one week of shooting on the remaining 8 episodes of season 5.

In addition to causing a rift with Taylor, Kevin’s filming schedule was allegedly the “source of frustration” for Taylor. It also brought “morale problems” with his co-stars.
