Corries Dolly-Rose Campbell looks far cry from Gemma Winter in fresh-faced clip

Coronation Street's Gemma Winter is played by Dolly-Rose Campbell – who looks unrecognisable away from her soap role as a mum-of-five.

In the soap Dolly-Rose, 35, portrays Gemma who is a mum to quadruplets with her beau Chesney Brown, as well as being step-mum to his son Joseph.

Known for her wild and wacky dress sense and embracing youthful fashion since arriving on the cobbles in 2014, away from the soap Dolly-Rose looks much more mature and sensible.

With curly hair and a fresh face with no makeup, Dolly-Rose looks unrecognisable out of character while teaching sign language to her followers.

Her newfound career path of teaching sign language online comes after one of Dolly-Rose's on-screen quads – baby Aled -suffered profound deafness though.

In the soap this meant parents Gemma and Chesney had to decide whether or not their baby should have an implant operation.

In the meantime the family started to learn BSL (British Sign Language) before the operation went ahead with baby Aled getting a cochlear implant.

But BSL is still a huge part of the family's life, meaning it's a huge thing for Gemma – and for the woman who plays her too.

Fully embracing the storyline and taking BSL seriously, Dolly-Rose decided to learn BSL fully, with the actress passing level one in August.

After announcing the news that she had passed level one and was excited to progress onto level two, Dolly-Rose took to Instagram to share a video of her teaching a sign a day.

Teaching her 88,000 followers, Dolly-Rose has demonstrated how to sign phrases and words that are used everyday in British language.

She has taught signs for words like "tea" as well as greetings and other commonly used phrases.

Fans of Dolly-Rose love her sign language video clips and tutorials, with many leaving sweet comments whenever she posts.

"Aw that's excellent," someone said about her passing level one, adding: "It really is something that should be taught in schools …instead of bloody algebra!!"

Elsewhere on other videos uploaded by Dolly-Rose, someone said: "Love love love learning from you please don't stop I actually look forward watching you do the signs and i actually learnt the one's you have done so far which is a big thing for me."

"I think it's fantastic what you are doing. I'm enjoying learning each day," added a second.

While a third praised: "These videos are massively helping me look after a deaf patient at work. Thank you."

And a fourth gushed: "Well done you for learning and trying to make life easier for the deaf community. Proud of you. Keep going."

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
