Corrie's Helen Flanagan stranded in Greece amid UK flight chaos

Coronation Street’s Helen Flanagan was one of the many famous faces caught up in the recent flight delays.

The Rosie Webster actress wasn’t able to return home with her three children straight away, as a major air traffic control failure has seen many flights disrupted.

Sharing the event on her Instagram, Helen revealed that she was stuck at the airport in Greece with Matilda, Delilah and Charlie waiting for an update on her flight home, but was then told she’d be staying slightly longer in the country, with the plane home being cancelled.

Uploading a clip of her children in the airport, Helen wrote alongside: ‘Flight delays’, and then shared a selfie with her friend and put: ‘Flight cancelled’.

Christine McGuinness was also among the celebrities who had travel journeys altered as a result of the technical fault, which then meant flight plans had to be inputted manually by controllers.

The model – who was previously in a relationship with Top Gear’s Paddy McGuinness – was ready to return to Cheshire with her mum and three children, only to be told she’d be staying abroad for a little longer.

She updated her Instagram followers by writing: ‘Stranded due to network failures across UK airports, no idea when we can get a flight home but I feel very lucky, we found a place to stay and I get extra time to make more memories with my babies.’

Christine added: ‘I trust in the universe. I had jobs booked all week, a million things to do at home getting ready to prep for ‘back to school’ but… we were meant to stay longer, we have more memories to make, time with my babies is priceless. I actually feel very grateful, we’re not home, but we have everything we need.’

Elsewhere, back in June, Helen opened up about the moment she lost sight of her daughter Matilda while at the shops.

‘I must have turned my back for a second,’ she told New Magazine.

‘I remember having this horrible, sinking feeling. I always keep an eye on my kids but I couldn’t see her for a about a minute. There’s nothing worse than that, it’s the worst, worst feeling ever.’

She added that she has warned her kids to stay close to her, saying: ‘They are good with that but you need eyes in the back of your head!’
