Coronation Street star and all-round acting legend Maureen Lipman has bagged herself four nominations at this year’s Inside Soap Awards.
The awards ceremony will celebrate the most memorable moments, storylines and performances in Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Casualty, Waterloo Road, Home and Away and Doctors from the past year.
From the massive storm in Emmerdale to Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) returning in EastEnders, it’s been another fantastic 12 months to be a soap fan, who will have the chance to cast votes from midday on July 4.
One person who stands a huge chance of taking home an award this year is Maureen Lipman, who plays Evelyn Plummer in Coronation Street.
Grandmother to Tyrone (Alan Halsall), Evelyn can usually been seen in comedic and light-hearted scenes, but the recent return of her secret daughter sparked a dark and powerful narrative for her.

Cassie (Claire Sweeney) is Tyrone’s biological mother and came face to face with Evelyn after taking drugs and ending up in hospital.
After establishing that Evelyn was living with Tyrone, Cassie told her that she has a right to see her son, but Evelyn maintained the view that all she’d do is ruin Ty’s life, and that he currently believes his real mum is dead.
As well as being up for the Best Actress and Best Comedic Performance awards, Maureen has also been nominated for Best Partnership alongside David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper.
Evelyn and Roy’s friendship was tested a few months ago after Roy accidentally dropped an Eccles’ cake on the floor, which was eaten by Evelyn’s dog, Cerberus.
The incident resulted in Cerberus falling unwell and was put to sleep at the vets. Fortunately, Evelyn and Roy got back on track, but she’s now navigating her jealousy as her close friend continues to spend a lot of time with Yasmeen (Shelley King).
Maureen may also share joy with her fellow co-stars as Coronation Street is up for Best Soap.
One of Corrie’s strongest storylines over the past year has been that of Ryan Connor’s (Ryan Prescott) acid attack, and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) being stalked by Justin Rutherford (Andrew Still).
We’ve also seen Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Chesney (Sam Aston) get married, and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) endure an affair with criminal Damon Hay (Ciaran Griffiths).
