Danny Dyer reveals there are EastEnders cast mates he won't miss: 'They know'

Mick Carter’s (Danny Dyer) exit from EastEnders over Christmas had us all completely stunned.

The beloved character ended up in a showdown with Janine (Charlie Brooks) and Linda (Kellie Bright).

After rescuing Janine from a sinking car, he went back to rescue Linda.

However, he didn’t realise that she was already safe and on land, which left Linda and Janine with the horrifying realisation that Mick had been swept away.

Due to the fact it marked Danny’s exit from the soap, Mick’s lack of swimming skills, not to mention the freezing temperatures, we can only assume the character had met a watery end.

Now, busy working on other shows – such as a new game show on Netflix with comedian Ellie Taylor, and starring in a Channel 5 drama called Heat – Danny has of course spent time reflecting on his life in the BBC One soap.

While describing his exit from EastEnders as ‘very emotional’, the actor has also been speaking about his co-stars.

‘I do miss the people there, there’s no two ways about it but it’s a new chapter for me’, he said, speaking on The Jonathan Ross show this week.

‘You don’t have much say in it, I just wanted it [his exit] to be exciting and quite cinematic. It went down really well, a lot of people were quite touched by it. People were sending me all this stuff, TikToks of kids crying, it really upset them.’

‘Who will you miss the least?’, Jonathan wondered.

‘There’s a few of them actually, I ain’t going to lie’, Danny responded. ‘I won’t say [who], you know. Most of them I love dearly. Not all…’

‘So, they know who they are, though?’, Jonathan asked.

Responding, Danny said: ‘I would have thought so.’

Channel 5’s new drama, Heat – which is Danny’s first acting role since leaving EastEnders – is about two families who are long-time friends, as they venture to a secluded home for a summer vacation against the backdrop of the looming Australian bushfire season.

In typical drama fashion, secrets and lies unravel during the vacation – and not everyone will make it out alive!

The Jonathan Ross Show airs this Saturday at 9:40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
