David Ames reveals new role after Holby City axe – with EastEnders star

Holby City’s David Ames is continuing to venture into the world of theatre productions following the medical drama’s cancellation, as casting has been announced for Horse-Play.

David will play the roles of Butterfly/Tim alongside EastEnders stars Jake Maskall (Stallion/Tom) and Matt Lapinskas (Villainor/Karl).

Premiering at The Riverside Studios, Horse-Play is a comedy that explores the kinkier side of life, shall we say.

Directed by Andrew Beckett, the story sees Tom and Tim attempt to spice up their sex-life by booking an evening in a dungeon with a male escort.

Meanwhile, crime-busting superhero, the Stallion and side kick Butterfly have been lured to the lair of their arch nemesis – Villainor.

The two events are seemingly connected and suffice to say it will be a night none of them will ever forget – for all the wrong reasons!

Before Holby City’s cancellation in March, David Ames told us how beneficial he found working and playing Dominic Copeland during the pandemic:

‘I spent the first lockdown on my own, which was really tough. I had a lot of family stuff going on at the time and to only see people through a screen on my phone or my laptop was really hard. So having this job to come to was a haven.

‘We were working hard during that period but to be able to speak to other people, albeit from 2m away and with masks on, I had other people to chat to in the flesh. So that was really special.’

Matt Lapinskas played the role of Anthony Moon in EastEnders and recently appeared in Hollyoaks as Alex.

Jake Maskall mainly appeared in the BBC One soap during the early 2000s, portraying the role of Danny Moon.
