Death in Paradise fans are eagerly awaiting series 12 of the tropical crime drama series which has boasted several household names within its cast. One of the latest to be announced is After Life and This Is England star Jo Hartley, who took to Twitter to thank her co-stars for the “fun in the sun” she had with them on the fictional Caribbean island. The actress celebrated the “beautiful memories” she had made.

The escapist show is an annual highlight with fans, and the new series is set to hit screens in early 2023.

DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) and the rest of the team will return to investigate crimes darkening the sunny island of Saint Marie.

Series 12 is set to see some impressive names joining the team, with Jo taking to Twitter to announce her role.

She posted: “JOJO In paradise. What a ride! Loved every minute. Good people, beautiful memories.

“WHO DID IT? Thanks for inviting me on @deathinparadise you’re the best! Fun in the sun!” (sic)

She later replied to a comment on the post and stated: “I watched it and was over the moon when they asked me.”

Jo isn’t the only big name to be joining the stellar cast, though.

Game of Thrones star Kevin Eldon is one of the three most recent guest stars to be announced for the 2023 series.

He is probably best recognised in recent years for starring as Mr Hankins in the first two series of Sanditon on ITV.

Actor Amit Shah is another face heading to the tropical island and has also starred in an array of popular shows during his career so far.

Some of these include The Witcher, His Dark Materials, The Other One, Hospital People and The Long Call.

Les Dennis has also been announced as a new character in the hit series.

The actor and host famously presented Family Fortunes for more than two decades.

He is probably best known in his acting career for his role as Michael Rodwell, Gail Platt’s (Helen Worth) latest husband in Coronation Street.

A plethora of other new faces will also be joining the upcoming series.

The Larkins and The Chase star Bradley Walsh has been announced as a guest star, while Derry Girls’ icon Siobhán McSweeney is another big name.

Former protagonist Kris Marshall is growing the show by starring in his own spin-off, Beyond Paradise.

His character left for the UK to be with his love interest Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton).

The spin-off will explore the couple’s romance as well as some new murder mysteries.

When Beyond Paradise begins, Humphrey and Martha will be engaged and living in Martha’s hometown.

Filming for the highly anticipated sister series began in August, much to the excitement of fans.

Death in Paradise returns to BBC One in 2023.
