Ralf Little speaks about a moment on set with Ben Miller
Ralf Little has portrayed Detective Inspector Neville Parker on the BBC comedy drama Death In Paradise since 2020.
Before his time working in the Caribbean for the role, he has featured in sitcoms such as Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps and The Royle Family.
The 43-year-old, who is a former semi-professional footballer, opened up about being in the limelight to Barnaby Slater on The Almost Famous Podcast.
During the candid interview, Ralf addressed being “big” on Twitter and the abuse he deals with on the social media site.
“It’s weird, isn’t it? Social media has changed that whole dynamic,” he explained.
He said being famous “feels like a dirty word” adding: “It feels like the done thing to say, but mostly, it’s b*****s. It’s b*****s, I’m sorry.
“Also, the world at large is a funny place,” he continued: “But if you are playing a d**k people think you are a d**k. It’s really weird playing a bad guy especially if you are in a soap or something as people hate you.
“If you are in shows people like and play someone you identify with… People either don’t know who I am or they do know who I am and they are glad to see me.

“If people don’t like me online it’s because they don’t approve of something they’ve said,” he added.
“But yes I have definitely encountered people who are like, ‘That’s Ralf Little, what a c**k.’
“I’m like, ‘What could I possibly have done to irritate you?’ I have no idea!”
He said being famous can be a burden to some people but he said: “It only confirmed to me that I was special.”

He said he was grateful for all the places he’s been able to travel for his career and all of the people in the industry he’s met.
Ralf also said: “If I ever thought being famous [was rubbish], b******t, b*******t, it’s afforded me an extraordinary life.”
Ralf will be reprising his role in Death In Paradise for its upcoming series, he confirmed earlier this year.
He told his Instagram followers: “Contracts are signed, sealed. There is another series of Death in Paradise being filmed this year and I am delighted to say that I am going back. I will be playing Neville Parker again in series 13.”
Death In Paradise episodes are available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
