A mixture of soap opera, thriller, comedy and mystery which served up an addictive slice of suburban life in Middle America, Desperate Housewives was a global hit for eight seasons.
The show aired its first episode on 18 years ago on October 3 2004.
Stars from the series – Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Nicolette Sheridan, Brenda Strong and many more – became household names, and in some cases found that the show gave their careers a second wind.

The children of Wisteria Lane were often caught up in the crazy dramas of the cul de sac too, so to mark a decade since the show ended, Daily Star has taken a look at the show's young cast.
Andrea Bowen – Julie Mayer
The daughter of single mother Susan (Teri Hatcher), Julie was smart, and seriously helped ground her klutzy, disaster-prone mum.
Andrea began her career on Broadway in New York at the age of six, becoming the youngest Cosette in Les Miserables' 16-year run.
She still acts, and has most recently appeared in a number of Lifetime movies with names like Who Killed My Husband? and Psycho Sister-in-Law.
Cody Kasch – Zach Young
Desperate Housewives began with the death of Mary Alice Young (Brenda Strong), who then narrated the entire run from beyond the grave.
Mary Alice's oddball son Zach and his father Paul (Mark Moses) were central to the murky mystery in season one, as Mary Alice's friends tried to work out why she took her own life.
Actor Cody has had a few small film roles since the show ended.
Shawn Pyfrom and Joy Lauren Jorgenson – Andrew and Danielle Van De Kamp
Shawn played uptight Bree Van De Kamp's (Marcia Cross) gay son Andrew, whose main pastime was tormenting his mother.
Shawn is still acting, but he is also now and photographer and model, with a very artistic Instagram account.
He's also a director, with his debut film EZK: Beyond the Walls premiering at 2019's Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
Bree's other child Danielle also caused her mum's rictus grin to crack when she had a teenage pregnancy.
Joy Lauren (formerly known as Lauren Joy), began acting aged 11 but no longer acts.
She is the founder of Killjoy Films and has produced and directed a number of independent and short films.
Madison De La Garza – Juanita Solis
Being the daughter of high maintenance former model Gaby Solis (Eva Longoria) was never going to be easy, but Juanita won fans over with her warmth and quick one-liners.
Madison is still acting. The younger half-sister of Demi Lovato has appeared in American Koko and Bad Teacher since the show ended.
She also directed short film Pink Elephant and produced the film Subject 16.
Brent and Shane Kinsman – young Preston and Porter Scavo
Tom (Doug Savant) and Lynette's (Felicity Huffman) twin boys were always making their mum tear her hair out.
Since Desperate Housewives, the twins, who also starred in Cheaper by the Dozen, have retired from acting.
During lockdown they posted a series of TikTok videos recreating Cheaper by the Dozen with their fellow cast mates!
Their final acting credit was in a 2008 episode of ER.
Max and Charlie Carver – older Preston and Porter Scavo
The show's season five had a five-year time jump, meaning the twins were now played by new actors.
The Carver twins are now aged 33.
Max had a regular role as Aiden in the TV show Teen Wolf and has also appeared in The Batman. He has 1.7million Instagram followers.
Charlie also appeared on Teen Wolf, as Ethan, and in The Batman. He was also in The Boys in the Band and Ratched.
He came out as gay in 2016. He has 2million Instagram followers.
