DIY SOS star Jason Liversidge dies aged 47 after 10 year health battle

DIY SOS star Jason Liversidge has passed away at the age of 47 after living with motor neurone disease (MND) for ten years.

Dad-of-two Jason was diagnosed with the disease in 2013 and appeared alongside his family on the home makeover show in 2015.

The family home in Hull was visited by Nick Knowles as the DIY SOS team transformed the home to make it more accessible to Jason.

His wife Liz confirmed the sad news of Jason’s passing on Facebook, writing: “Jason Liversidge died peacefully at home surrounded by his girls at 22.59 on the 5th August 2023.

"Thank you for being the best husband and father that we could ask for."

She added: "You will be forever young and remain alive always in our hearts and minds. We love you! Fly free my love."

As well as appearing on DIY SOS, Jason was a world record holder and loved taking on adventure-filled challenges.

In September 2020, he set the Guinness World Record for the fastest speed by an electric mobility vehicle (prototype) by travelling at an impressive 66.826 mph.

He said at the time: “My wife Liz thinks I’m slightly barmy for doing it, although she’s 100% behind me.”

And Liz added: “Jason has always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie.

“For anyone to do it would be pushing the limit. So, he's pushing it to the extreme of what's possible.”
