Ryan Stocks’ (James Moore) world was turned upside down recently in Emmerdale when he discovered that he’s a father to a little boy named Oscar.
His girlfriend Gail (Rachael Gill-Davis) had been receiving mystery phone calls and following this she arranged to meet a woman called Sophie (Martha Cope) at the allotment.
Sophie is the adoptive mother of Oscar – Gail’s secret son – and she explained that Oscar has a type of cancer and needs a stem cell transplant as part of his treatment.
Sophie wanted Gail to have a test to see if she could help Oscar, and suggested that Ryan get tested too.
Prior to her recent reappearance we last saw Gail in 2019, when she and Ryan dated for a few months. They had been friends prior to this too.
When Gail suddenly appeared back in Emmerdale this year, Ryan was a bit mystified about what had made her get in touch.
Gail had kept Oscar’s existence a secret from Ryan after she came back into his life, so when he found out he felt betrayed and obviously shocked.

In upcoming episodes he’s still trying to process the knowledge that he’s a dad but that Gail prevented him from having any part in his son’s life until now.
Gail tries to persuade him that the important thing to focus on now is that Oscar needs help and Ryan may be able to offer him the stem cell donation if he’s a match for his son.
Despite his initial refusal, Ryan agrees to help, though it’s clear that he’s not going to be forgiving Gail anytime soon. Will they be able to work through this together?
Or is this the end of the road for the pair?
