A major casting change is set in store for EastEnders later this week, with the BBC confirming Amy Mitchell will be played by a brand new actress.
Amy is the daughter of Jack Branning (played by Scott Maslen) and the late Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons).
It has been revealed that Amy will be bullied by some other teens on the Square, Denzil and Nugget.
She was trying to show off to the boys by stealing some food from Walford East, but they later targeted her at school when they posted a picture of her legs online.
Amy has already had a difficult childhood, so this is the last things she needs.
Who is replacing EastEnders' Abbie Burke as Amy Mitchell?
The 13-year-old was previously played by sisters Kamil and Natalia Lipka-Kozanka when Amy first made an appearance on the soap.
Amelie Conway then took over the role between 2010 and 2014, then Abbie Burke stepped into Amy’s shoes.
The BBC has confirmed Ellie Dadd is EastEnders’ new Amy Mitchell, with the star making her debut later this week.
Ellie is best known for her role as Cat Shaw in Silent Witness.
Why has the actress for Amy Mitchell changed?
The casting change coincides with Amy’s coming-of-age storyline.
It is not unusual for child stars to be swapped regularly as commitments change and they age rapidly which may not be in line with filming.
According to Metro, a spokeperson said: “The recast decision is one that happens a lot with actors playing children growing up on soaps, as more adult storylines come into play.
“There are some significant storylines ahead for Amy; the decision was not any reflection on Abbie, who is much loved among the cast and crew at EastEnders.
“It is not unusual in continuing drama to recast young actors as children take on more challenging adult storylines. We wish Abbie all the best for the future.”
