EastEnders fans went wild on Thursday as the BBC One soap dropped a major Christmas cufflinks clue.
Fans will recall that earlier this year, EastEnders released a first look at the 2023 Christmas episode in a flashforward scene in a BBC One soap first.
The scene saw six of Walford’s much loved matriarchs, Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Sharon ( Letitia Dean ), Stacey ( Lacey Turner ) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal) faced with a dead body.
In the moments that unfolded at the Queen Vic, the group of women all stood round in shock in a festive-looking pub and looked down at a man, wearing amber cufflinks, lying on the floor.
Not much was said between the six of them, but Stacey was covered in blood, Denise was holding a smashed bottle of Champagne and Sharon wore a bloodied wedding dress as she leant over the body, confirming the person was dead.
However, it’s unclear whose body it is and what’s happened to them…
Yet this all changed on Thursday night as EastEnders dropped a major cufflinks clue ahead of the Christmas episodes, sending fans wild.
During the latest episode, Rocky Cotton and Kathy Beale had their stag and hen nights ahead of their upcoming wedding.
As part of the stag do, Nish Panesar decided to organise a poker game where he handed over his amber cufflinks, which are the ones in the Christmas flashforward, and a large wad of cash – confident he would win.
However, Rocky came up trumps as he pocketed all the winnings apart from the cufflinks, which he handed over to Jack Branning.
He said: "Listen, you can have them Jack, they’re not my cup of tea I’m very happy with this lot [the cash]."
To which a thoughtful Jack inspected the cufflinks before pocketing them as Nish cryptically said: "Wear them in health!"
Soap watchers were quick to go wild over the new clue as they questioned whether Jack could in fact be the dead victim.
Taking to Twitter, one person said: "The cufflinks are in play!! #followthecufflinks #EastEnders."
A different account put: "Spoiler alert: An icy dagger went through my heart when I saw who ended up with the infamous cufflinks tonight. Not him. PLEASE not him. It’s wild that you don’t realise how much you love a character until they’re possibly facing death lol. #EastEnders."
Another follower wrote: "No spoilers but do we think the person who now has the cufflinks is still going to have them by Xmas? A lot can happen between now and then! #EastEnders."
While a different soap watcher added: "The cufflinks!! A clue?? #EastEnders."
