EastEnders fans point out Lily Slater ‘plot hole’ and ask: ‘Why has no one told her?’

EastEnders have been left confused after the BBC soap failed to address the 'potential risks' Lily Slater could face during her pregnancy due to her age.

In scenes that aired during Wednesday evening's instalment of the popular show, Lily, 12, attended her first ultrasound scan at the hospital, alongside mum Stacey Slater, dad Ryan Molloy, Sam Mitchell and Ricky Mitchell.

Lily and Ricky were both delighted to see their baby for the first time despite tensions rising between Stacey and Ryan during the hospital visit.

However, viewers were quick to criticise EastEnders after medical staff failed to inform Lily of the dangers she could face during her pregnancy.

Taking to social media, dozens of EastEnders viewers asked similar questions about the scan scenes.

One person said: "Someone should talk to Lily about the potential risks and obstacles she could face during her pregnancy. She's only 12 years old it's important she is told about the severity of her situation should the worse happen further down the line."

A second person agreed, adding: "if they weren’t going to do it before, the scan should’ve been an opportunity for lily to learn of the risks of pregnancy at her age. I am so disappointed that they’ve skimmed over it."

A third person said: "I'm surprised nothing regarding the dangers and health complications having a baby at 12 can bring has been mentioned even slightly. This whole storyline with Lily seems pretty bad now."

Lily's pregnancy has caused huge drama between the Slater and Branning families, and has prompted Lily's estranged father Ryan, portrayed by Neil McDermott, to return to Albert Square after six years.

Despite Ryan appearing to have good intentions, it was revealed in recent episodes he was planning to take Lily and her baby away from Walford to live with him and his wife Helen in Wakefield.

Show watchers now think they have figured out a twist on the BBC One soap as Ryan admitted to Whitney that his wife Helen can't have children during Wednesday's episode.

Viewers now think that Lily will either decide to give her baby to Ryan and Helen or the couple will kidnap Lily's baby in a huge twist on the BBC One soap.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Why do I feel like Ryan is going to end up kidnapping Lily’s baby#Eastenders" followed with crying emojis.

A different account put: "Omg it just dawned on me that Ryan doesn’t want Lily. He wants the baby !!! #EastEnders."

Another follower wrote: "So Ryan and Helen can't have kids – I wonder if Lily will giver her dad and step-mum her baby? #Eastenders @bbceastenders."

EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One.
