EastEnders pulled from BBC schedules in major shake-up

EastEnders will not air a new episode this evening (Monday, August 21).

The BBC One soap, which usually broadcast new episodes Mondays to Thursdays, is absent from TV schedules tonight.

The reason being to make way for coverage of the World Athletics Championships, which will air in the serial drama’s usual slot, kicking off from 7:30pm.

If, like many, you’re absolutely devastated at the thought of not getting your daily EastEnders fix – especially since the show is currently on top of its game – then you needn’t fret as the offering of the soap intended to air on Monday is now available to stream on BBC iPlayer.

And having already seen the episode in question, Metro.co.uk can confirm that it’s one not to be missed.

If you prefer to watch EastEnders on the telly, however, then you’ll have to wait until Tuesday (August 22), when you will be treated to not one but two editions of the soap.

There will no new episode on TV on Wednesday (August 23) either, with another double bill slated for Thursday (August 24) in a bid to catch the soap back up to where it needs to be ahead of a particularly big week.

The iPlayer schedule, which sees new offerings of the BBC One soap available to stream on the platform from 6am every day, remains unchanged this week, meaning that you can enjoy a new episode daily if you choose to do so.

Monday’s offering, which will hit TV screens on Tuesday, sees Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) reel in the wake of finding out that her twin sister’s death was as a result of Caz having been under the influence of alcohol.

With Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) having kicked her out, Eve sleeps on a park bench, with a concerned Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) on hand to offer support.

Elsewhere, Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) makes contact with Peter (Thomas Law), who soon returns to Walford – though not because of Bobby’s call.

Next week will see Cindy Beale, played by Michelle Collins, stage her long-awaited return to the Square and the excitement is real.

EastEnders airs a double bill on Tuesday August 22 and Thursday August 24 at 7pm on BBC One. Alternatively, stream episodes daily Monday to Thursday from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
