EastEnders star is already ‘favourite’ to win Strictly – weeks before it starts

EastEnders star Bobby Brazier is already 'favourite' to win Strictly Come Dancing, just weeks before the show starts.

The 20-year-old model and actor, best known for his role as Freddie Slater in EastEnders, was announced as the latest addition to the star-studded lineup on BBC Breakfast, on 9 August.

And he's already the favourite to win the show, according to bookmakers, William Hill – knocking actor Layton Williams off the top spot when he was the latest celebrity to be announced.

Bobby, who is the son of late TV star Jade Goody, is now at odds of 3/1 to win Strictly, whereas Layton is now at 4/1.

William Hill spokesperson, Lee Phelps, said: “Bobby Brazier has entered the betting for the Glitterball Trophy as the 3/1 favourite, with Layton Williams drifting out to 4/1.

"Adam Thomas and Zara McDermott are next-in-line with both at 6/1. Annabel Croft knows her way around a baseline but looks a longshot for Strictly glory at 14/1.

"While Nigel Harman is an 8/1 outsider at this stage.”

After the news of him joining the popular dancing show went public, Bobby said: "I’m so excited to be part of the Strictly line up, I can’t wait to start training like a professional dancer and adding a few moves to my locker. I'm looking forward to performing in-front of everyone, it's going to be so much fun!”

After the official Strictly Instagram account announced the news, professional dancer Dianne Buswell said, "Welcome to the sparkly world of Strictly."

Fans were very excited at Strictly's latest signing, with one even predicting that he would win it, as they wrote: "Calling it now he's the winner."

Another said: "Omg, yes. Buzzing about this. Let's go Bobby."

Bobby joined the cast of EastEnders in 2022, and he's proved popular as an actor as he plays Freddie Slater.

He was recently part of a very heavy storyline, which saw Freddie find out that he was a product of rape, after his mum, Little Mo Mitchell was attacked by his father, Graham Foster.

The news was delivered to a heartbroken Freddie by Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) who, up until recently, he believed was his father, as well as his aunt, Kat (Jessie Wallace), and her on-off husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).

One upset viewer tweeted: "Poor Freddie, my heart breaks for him." While another added: "My heart just broke for poor Freddie, Bobby does play the part well. Jade would be so proud of him."

Another said: "Freddie made me sob like a baby tonight, im so happy he’s been given something as serious as this to play because it is a subject that’s very real and sore for many people. So well written and acted."
