Congratulations are in order for Tanya Franks, who has landed a brand new role one year on from her EastEnders departure.
The acclaimed actress, who played Rainie Highway in the BBC One soap, will star in Calendar Girls The Musical, playing a leading part in the production.
The show, which stars Amy Robbins and Honeysuckle Weeks and includes songs penned by Gary Barlow and Tim Firth, tells the story of a group of women who are inspired to create a nude calendar in a bid to raise money for charity.
Tanya will portray Annie Clarke, whose husband’s illness inspires the women of the small town in their mission.
The soap star is in a relationship with Scott Mitchell, Barbara Windsor’s widower, with the two’s romance having been confirmed earlier this month.
Scott, 60, told The Sun: ‘Life feels really good right now and we are enjoying some special time together’.
A source close to Barbara’s friends and family added to the publication that they’re happy Scott has found love again.
Tanya proved what a powerhouse actress she is while playing Rainie Highway, previously Rainie Cross, in EastEnders across various stints over the years.
Rainie departed Walford last year as her marriage to Stuart (Ricky Champ) broke down, but she subsequently returned to help her husband, who was struggling with postnatal depression following the birth of his son Roland, all the while he battled breast cancer.
The couple reunited and resolved to start afresh outside of Walford.
Their final scenes saw them steal a hearse from Jay and rode out of Walford in a way that only Rainie and Stuart could have, saying goodbye to their loved ones.
We still miss them!
