Ed and Ronnie Bailey (Trevor Michael Georges and Vinta Morgan) recently decided to go into business together in Coronation Street.
However, just like many other people right now, the brothers are troubled by money and more specifically, Ronnie’s money, as Ed learns a huge secret about his sibling.
An excited Ed tells Ronnie about a plot of land for sale with planning permission for six houses. He’s convinced they can make a killing and Ronnie reluctantly agrees to look at the details, fully aware that he’s already spent their cash.
In the cafe, Debbie (Sue Devaney) chats to Ronnie and says he only needs to stall his brother for a few more days.
Towards the end of the week, Debbie alerts Ronnie to the fact that Newton and Ridley shares have nosed-dived and he’d better hope Waterfords make an offer soon. Throw in into a panic, Ronnie tells Ed that he’s having second thoughts about the project and thinks they should pull out.
When Ronnie then hears Henry (George Banks) telling the pub staff that his Dad intends to sell the brewery, he catches him outside and urges him to accept Waterfords offer.
Later that day, when Ed reveals that he’s put in a bit for the plot of land, Ronnie is left with no choice but to explain that there’s no money because he blew it all on the Newton & Ridley shares which are now worthless.
But how will Ed react?
What will this mean for the Bailey family if they are left with nothing?
