Emmerdale fans have been left terrified for the fate of one favourite character after witnessing the tense trailer for the ITV soap’s 50th anniversary.
It has been confirmed that a deadly storm will plunge the village into chaos later this month, leaving plenty of villagers’ lives at risk.
But one character is at the forefront of fans’ minds after the huge ordeal he went through this year – Marlon Dingle. After suffering a stroke and exchanging vows with the woman of his dreams, Rhona Goskirk, it’s onwards and upwards for the pub chef.

Or is it? The new trailer, which is formulated around Emmerdale characters as cake toppers on an anniversary cake, shows a waxwork Marlon standing alone in the rain before falling to his knees, tears in his eyes as he gazes up at the brewing storm.
Cain Dingle and Al Chapman can also be seen coming to blows in the action-packed trailer, as Naomi and Charles Anderson look set to be separated in super soap week.
Liv and Vinny Dingle race through the woods, with Vinny seen clinging to a tree trunk, before Claire King can be seen fleeing the village in her wedding dress, shoes in hand.
A pregnant Amelia Spencer also appears in the trailer, along with Nicola King looking shocked and Charity and son Noah in the car as the storm travels overhead.
And parts of the cake soon crumble, tossing characters including Marlon and Al tumbling into the void.
Worried fans raced to comment on the trailer, with one writing: “Can’t you just leave Marlon alone? He’s been through enough already! Looks fab though.”
Another fan echoed: “Not Marlon going the same way as Tricia!”, while someone else said: “Not poor Marlon! The guy’s been through enough!”

Another social media user went on to predict: “Looks good but probably will kill off popular characters rather than unpopular ones!”
Someone else even thinks they spied serial killer Meena Jutla lurking in the high-stakes trailer, and took to Instagram to pen: “Perfect return for Meena as a hooded figure is seen!” – though someone else quickly suggested it could be Debbie’s ex Joe Tate.
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV.
