Fans of ITV soap Emmerdale think they might have worked out out how Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Al Chapman’s (Michael Wildman) affair might be uncovered after the pair met up for a secret tryst during Marlon and Rhona’s wedding reception on the Dales during Thursday’s episode (August 11).
Chas and Al have become entangled in an affair as Chas continues to come to terms with the devastating reality of her mum Faith’s (Sally Dexter) cancer and, during the illicit encounter, the pair hinted at their true feelings for one another.
Viewers have a theory that heartbreak might now be on the way for one of the soap's most beloved characters, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) after Cain made a surprise appearance holding two champagne glasses, despite supposedly being alone.
The moment suggested to fans that Cain (Jeff Hordley) could be crucial to the affair coming out, with many taking to Twitter to share how the soap veteran might play a part.
One wrote: “Surely you’d ask why he’s holding 2 glasses of Apple juice I mean wine!”
A second said: “Will Cain see Kerry & then notice Chas missing,” as another wrote: “Hope Cain sees Kerry not in the house.”
A third viewer suggested: “How brilliant would it have been if he'd seen something of Chas' and kicked the door in to come back.”
ITV have even hinted that Cain might be the first to find out with a spokesperson teasing the show with: “How will her headstrong brother Cain react should he realise she’s in bed with his arch nemesis?”
Chas’s world has been rocked by her mum’s terminal cancer diagnosis and she has sought solace in the affair which appears to have brought out Al’s sensitive side.
But Emmerdale viewers sympathised with Chas’s unsuspecting husband, Paddy, particularly during Thursday’s episode, as he delivered a speech in the Woolpack on his love for Chas – oblivious to the face that she was carrying on her affair with Al just a few doors down the street.
Could that be about to change though? Emmerdale is gearing up for its 50th birthday celebration episodes which insiders say will change everything.
