Emmerdale Leyla theories – Callum murder, addiction return and tragic death

It's been a dramatic week for Emmerdale's Leyla Hardingg (Roxy Shahidi) as she has been kidnapped by drug dealer Callum (Tom Ashley).

After her son, Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Platt) was stabbed and left for dead by Callum, Leyla was hellbent on revenge and determined to get the nasty criminal sent down for his crimes.

But her efforts were lost and even resulted in close friend Suzy Merton (Martelle Edinborough) getting attacked by Callum.

Following the violent attack on Suzy, Leyla broke down in the graveyard when she was discovered by Caleb.

Caleb, played by Waterloo Road star Will Ash, encouraged a helpless Leyla to play dirty with the violent criminal which prompted her to arrange a meeting with him.

Things went horribly wrong however as Leyla found herself being forced into the boot of Callum's car, and was later left bound and gagged in a secluded shed.

As Leyla attempts to escape Callum's clutches, Daily Star has rounded up the different ways things could end for the character.

Callum murdered

Callum has been making his presence known since Jacob attempted to confront him with a knife.

He has been sending her threatening messages for weeks and even brutally attacked Suzy by knocking her unconscious with a brick.

And now that he has Leyla bound and gagged, it seems there is no way out for her – unless she kills him which could enable her escape.

Drug return

Leyla's drug addiction began last year, however she managed to kick in the devastating habit.

But could she return to drugs in a different form?

During Wednesdays episode (March 15) of the ITV soap, Callum informed a tied up Leyla of his new plan – she will be working for him and doing a drop off.

He reiterated that his contacts are dangerous people, ones you do not say no to.

Leyla stood her ground however and refused, recognising she could go to prison if she was caught.

Already enraged that Leyla refused, things went even more south for an on edge Callum after he realised his contacts had cut him off.

As Leyla pleaded with him to let her go, Callum knocked her unconscious by whacking her across the face.

When she awakes, could her only option be to follow Callum's demands and return to a life of drugs?

Callum arrested

The threats from Callum have been keeping Leyla on edge for weeks, and it seems nothing will stop him at the moment.

After filming the villain dealing drugs in a nightclub, Leyla devised a plan to get Callum arrested.

The evidence was not enough to hold up however and Jacob and Suzy's attacker is still roaming free.

But fans were quick to realise that Leyla has further evidence on her phone that could implicate the vicious dealer and therefore lead to his arrest.

Sharing their thoughts on social media, one fan penned: "Surely Leyla has some evidence in those texts that she can take to the police #emmerdale."

Another viewer wrote: "So, if Leyla had only shown the police her phone….. #emmerdale."

Echoing these thoughts, a third fan added: "Leyla needs to show those messages to the police, he’s threatened Suzy, it’s evidence…#emmerdale."

Leyla exit

While there are no reports of Leyla actress Roxy leaving Emmerdale, it wouldn't be the first time a soap had sprung an unexpected death on fans.

Viewers have just seen Callum knock Leyla unconscious, and the nasty character has proved violence is no issue to him.

If he lets Leyla escape, Callum will no doubt face prison time.

Does that mean his only option is to murder the village resident in a fatefully tragic end?
