In the Emmerdale episode airing tonight (Tuesday, April 4), things go from bad to worse for Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin).
Last week’s scenes saw him arrested for dangerous driving, taking the blame for the hit and run that left villain Alex Moore (Liam Boyle) unconscious on the side of the road.
Unluckily the pair had a heated row not long before the smash took place.
Charles becomes a top suspect, even though we know it was Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) who accidentally hit Alex on his way into town, and chose to walk away from the scene.
Charles is left to comfort daughter Naomi (Karene Peter) over lying Alex’s plan to steal drugs from the surgery – with girlfriend Clare, after faking a romance with Naomi.
The dad is then taken into the station for further questioning in a police car.
When DS Raveley reveals Charles he could be charged with murder if Alex doesn’t wake up, he reacts in frustration during his interview – lashing out, knowing it won’t help his case.
Billy, meanwhile, is racked with guilt and ready to confess – though wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley) is scared he’ll be sent back to prison.
And that the crime will affect his ability to adopt her son Lucas – as well as their guardianship of youngster Clemmie.
However, in Charles’ darkest moment, he heads to Emmerdale’s church to seek spiritual guidance.
Billy arrives, as he’s sat in the pew, and comes clean about his involvement in the hit and run.
Elsewhere in the village, Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) invites Caleb Milligan (William Ash) into her home for a coffee.
The pair enjoy a flirt, which will no doubt raise eyebrows…
Kim Tate (Claire King) meanwhile is left seething when Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) threatens her access to grandson Thomas.
Unless she supports Gabby’s whirlwind engagement to suspicious nanny Nicky (Lewis Cope), that is…
