Good Morning Britain viewers tuned in to the latest episode of the ITV breakfast show to find Susanna Reid presenting live from Ukraine.

The 52-year-old is off-screen for half term this week – but Susanna made her return on Monday’s episode (February 20).

Susanna previously flew out to the war zone in April last year where she reported from the Polish-Ukrainian border.

And on Monday, Susanna made it all the way to Ukraine where she spoke to co-hosts Ed Balls and Ranvir Singh in the studio.

“I have come back and crossed from Poland this time into Ukraine. It’s taken hours ‘cause it is a massive country,” she shared.

“It takes about 10 hours to get from Poland to here in Kyiv.”

Susanna also recalled how chilling it has been to see the devastation caused by the war, noting that “nothing prepared me for what I would witness myself.”

Despite the horror scenes she has witnessed, the mum-of-three noted how everyone is “resilient.”

“They might be broken in part by what they’ve been through, but they’re not destroyed – they are bouncing back.”

Susanna then went on to praise President Volodymyr Zelensky, adding: “They have faith in their president Zelensky.”

“He is symbolic to them, he is their resilient leader.”

It didn’t take long for GMB viewers to take to Twitter to share their thoughts on the presenting shake-up.

Applauding Susanna for her bravery, one person wrote: “Shout out to Susanna for being in Ukraine this week. Not many tv presenters would be brave enough to accept such an assignment.”

Someone else shared their confusion: “Confused. U in the studio. Susanna in Ukraine.”

A third viewer proclaimed: “Take care and stay safe as always. What you're doing out there is appreciated.”

    A fourth agreed: “Stay safe.”

“It takes courage to do what you are doing this week,” another viewer tweeted.

The same user continued: “Great, relatable reporting & a reminder that this is not fading away.”
