On Wednesday’s episode of Emmerdale, viewers said goodbye to the long-running character Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) after she was crushed by a caravan. The new bride braved the storm to help get to the Woolpack to babysit Paddy Kirk’s (Dominic Brunt) daughter. Although while trying to protect her husband Vinny (Bradley Johnson) from the flying vehicle she was crushed herself.

This week residents of Emmerdale have had their lives thrown into chaos as a storm has caused disaster and destruction throughout the village.

With the weather already claiming Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) as its first victim, viewers watched as the next death as a result of the storm unfolded.

Tuesday’s episode saw Liv and Vinny leave their home to go to the Woolpack to babysit Paddy and Chas’s daughter while she remained in the hospital from injuries sustained after being caught in the commotion.

However, when Liv saw a caravan that was starting to roll towards her husband from the strong winds, she jumped into action.

Running towards him to try and push him out of the way, the duo were then struck by the vehicle which flew up into the air and crashed on top of them.

With people wondering if the duo would survive the freak accident, they watched Liv’s final scenes unfold on Wednesday night as it became clear she’d be the next in the soap to die from the storm.

After watching her brutal departure, viewers quickly took to Twitter to share their strong opinions on Liv’s exit.

Rosie Bentham Fans said: “Gabby going to be devastated to hear liv have died [sic] My heart can’t take this much longer honestly Emmerdale why do this to us.”

Irish Claire K added: “Why bring Aaron back to make up with Liv just to kill her? Heartbroken.”

Alexandra commented: “Full on sobbed like a baby at Liv, what a horrible and heartbreaking end.”

Faye Mitchell tweeted: “Who else was crying their eyes out at @emmerdale? liv’s departure heartbreaking – great acting “

Jenni Harrison said: “Absolutely sobbing my heart out #Emmerdale why do this to me!! Poor Liv.”

With Darryl Jason adding: “Goodbye Liv #Emmerdale. Such a heartbreaking ending to an amazing character so wonderfully played by @Isobel_steele Wishing her every success for the future! “

The 21-year-old first joined the soap back in 2016 when she was cast as the half-sister of Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).

During her time on the show, the young star has tackled some harrowing storylines including suffering from alcoholism last year.

However, the actress told The Mirror that she made the decision to leave the show back in 2021.

Admitting she had mixed feelings about Liv’s exit as it meant she’d never be able to return, the young star added that her character had come full circle.

Speaking about her final scenes on set, Isobel said: “Liv is a young girl and her death is a tragic one.

“I know it will be a shock to viewers but sometimes people can die in circumstances you would never expect.

“Very suddenly, people must deal with grief and that can be very tough.

“I am very proud of the way we’ve filmed these heartbreaking scenes and they are some of the best I have ever been involved in on the soap, but it has also been very emotional.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
