After being missing and worrying his friends and family, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) finally returned home and lied to everyone about how he was feeling. Chas’ (Lucy Pargeter) affair really took a toll on the Emmerdale icon and left him feeling like he wanted to end his life. Official spoilers reveal Paddy is finally allowing himself on the road to recovery accepting the help of his friends and family.

In upcoming scenes, Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) decided to scrap his planned birthday celebrations after his fallout with Paddy.

Meanwhile, Mary’s delighted Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) still wants to meet the new woman in her life despite the party having been cancelled.

Later in the pub, as Mary Goskirk (Lousie Jameson) enjoys her date with Faye, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) hints Paddy should make things right with Marlon.

Taking on her advice and wanting to patch things up, Paddy calls around to apologise to Marlon.

After they express their gratitude for each other, Paddy holds Marlon in a tight embrace as if he’ll never let him go.

Patching up their friendship and knowing they will also have one another back is the best birthday gift for Marlon.

The next day, Paddy is grateful when Rhona trusts he’s ready to return to work and be able to focus on something he loves.

Later in the Woolpack backroom, Paddy and Chas manage to have a civilised conversation about breaking the news to Eve Dingle (Bella James) that Paddy is moving out.

The next day, Marlon expresses his concerns to Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson) about Paddy leaving the village when he moves out of the Woolpack.

Understanding his concern, Liam invites Paddy to move in with him to make sure he isn’t alone in this big change in his life.

Paddy is elated but it soon becomes clear Liam may have bitten off more than he can chew when Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) moves in too unannounced.

Will Liam be able to set boundaries when it comes to Bear and Paddy living in his home?

Will Bear also moving in with Paddy cause more issues for their relationship, continuing to push Paddy over the edge?

Before long Paddy’s friends are all trying to support him but he is on a long road of recovery as he is still struggling.

Last Friday, Emmerdale made history by airing an all-male episode where they locked themselves into the Woolpack and spoke about their mental health.

Liam spoke about his suicide attempt when he was at university, Jimmy touched on how he felt when he lost his three brothers and Sam spoke about his recent health scare.

Paddy finally opened up on how he was feeling and admitted: “I couldn’t see a future for myself that I could live with.

“It seemed very certain that that’s what I had to do. Al bought a house for Chas, I don’t know if any of you knew that. And they were going to live in it with Eve.

“After I found out about the affair, I took Chas to the house, she had no idea I was going to take her – I just wanted to hurt her.

“I wanted to hurt her as much as she hurt me. I didn’t think I could do it. I kept telling myself I’d found the courage to do something and to deal with something even if it meant losing everything.

“I think it was driving back from the cottage with Chas, I was trying to keep my eyes on the road but my head – for a moment I could just see the car swerve to the other lane. How could I do that to Eve?”

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7:30pm on ITV.
