Firefly Lane: Katherine Heigl reflects on second season
On Thursday, Firefly Lane returned to Netflix with the final seven episodes of season two.
Although Katherine Heigl warned the show would come to an emotional end, viewers admitted they weren’t prepared to say goodbye to the heartwarming drama.
Firefly Lane followed the lives of best friends Tully Hart (played by Katherine Heigl) and Sarah Mularkey (Sarah Chalke) throughout the span of 30 years.
Through a series of flashbacks, viewers gained insight into their childhood, their growing careers and families, and the ups and downs of their friendship.
Although the first half of season two saw the two friends grow apart, fans were left concerned after it ended with Tully taking on a new job in Antarctica, while Kate learned she had stage three breast cancer.
In part two, fans were relieved to see Tully race back home after learning about Kate’s diagnosis, which she struggled to come to terms with.
As she struggled with daily activities, Sarah wrote a book and planned her funeral.
Although Kate and Tully continued to make memories together, fans were distraught to see the author succumb to the aggressive disease.
Season two ended with Tully doubting if she could go through with the funeral when Johnny presented her with a box filled with things from Kate.
It contains her novel, a joint, an autographed photo of David Cassidy and an iPod including a Firefly Lane playlist.
