Fleur East asked if she identifies with Amanda Abbington
Fleur East admitted she could “identify” with Amanda Abbington, who decided to suddenly quit Strictly Come Dancing.
Despite being billed among the favourites, actress Amanda, who was partnered with Giovanni Pernice, pulled out of the competition last week.
Appearing on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Fleur was asked by host Richard Madeley if she could relate to the pressure felt by Amanda.
“We’ve had one contestant dropping out because of the pressures – can you identify with that?” he probed.
“Yes! Definitely. Anybody who’s been through the Strictly experience [can],” Fleur replied.

Turning to Kate Garraway, Fleur continued: “It’s so intense, as you know.
“But at the same time, the most magical experience.
“If you can push through it, I always say now in everyday life, ‘If I can get through Strictly I can get through anything.’
“Because it is a high-pressured environment, but so magical at the same time in equal measure.”

Amanda stated “personal reasons” for her decision to leave the BBC competition.
In her statement, she wrote: “It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly. I did not come to this decision easily or lightly, but for personal reasons, I am unable to continue.”
She continued: “It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.
“I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them.”
Fleur reached the final of last year’s show alongside Vito Coppola.
She was close to claiming the Strictly Glitterball trophy but lost to Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.05pm on BBC One.
