Frightened Elaine catches killer Stephen as the truth dawns in Corrie

Elaine Jones (Paula Wilcox) has developed suspicions about Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce) in Coronation Street, and it happened during one very small moment.

Up until Monday’s (July 10) episode of the ITV soap, Elaine has believed that Stephen is a kind and successful businessman.

We know that the person Stephen is around Elaine isn’t who he really is. The real Stephen is a manipulative murderer, who has killed three people after they all found out his true character.

While Tim (Joe Duttine) has been curious about Stephen, convinced he’s only with Elaine for her money, she has refused to believe it.

In tonight’s episode, however, things began to change.

Elaine has been enjoying tai-chi classes at the community centre recently. She enjoys the element of calm it brings and gets on well with the instructor, Gerry.

Gerry attended Sally’s (Sally Dynevor) birthday party tonight and Elaine was very pleased to see him.

Back at home, as she chatted about Gerry and tai-chi, Stephen pretended to be interested but it was very clear he was annoyed, bored, and wound up about how much Elaine was talking about Gerry.

As Elaine’s back was turned, Stephen pulled a face, but he was caught out when Elaine revealed that she had spotted him in the reflection of the oven.

Stephen denied it all and walked away, but the fear in Elaine’s eyes suggested that the penny was dropping.

That small moment and Stephen’s ability to deny something immediately very clearly reminded her of her abusive ex-husband Geoff, so now what will she do?

Will Elaine put herself in danger if she confronts Stephen about his behaviour in the future?
