Gogglebox star Sandra Martin is unrecognisable as she shows off new look

Gogglebox star Sandra Martin stole the show as she showed off a striking new look as she spoke about the tenth anniversary of the programme.

Appearing on Saturday's BBC Breakfast, Sandra, 61, sat alongside best mate Sandi Bogle, 57, to speak about how they first got onto the hit Channel 4 show and how it was able to surprise everyone and become one of the top shows on TV.

Sandra was a Gogglebox favourite, taking part in the show from its start in 2013 up to 2017, while Sandi called time on her stint on the show a year earlier.

But while the show was supposed to be the focus of the attention, Sandra stole the show with her brand new look – including a new, bold blue hairstyle and dress.

During her time on Gogglebox, Sandra would often wear her hair short, cropped to her head, or occasionally dyed bleach blonde, a completely different style to the royal blue, shoulder-length hair with a fringe.

She even accessorised with a fun neck pendant which read: "I love Gogglebox."

The pair spoke about how they got a place on the show, to which Sandra admitted: "That's my part of the story.

"It was my 50th birthday at the time, and Sandi owned the pub [we were in] in Peckham. I decided that I wanted to go to Brixton, where we usually are, and where I'm from Brixton.

"So I said 'let's go to Brixton' one day. As I am the Queen Bee, when I sit there, I sit in a special part of the Beehive pub in Brixton.

"This nice guy named James came in and went to the bar and he said 'we're doing this show, called Gogglebox'.

"Because of who I am and my character, he said 'go to Queen Bee'. He's come over, I'm sitting in the corner with my drinks, and he says 'who's Queen Bee?'.

"I said 'it's me', and he said 'we're doing this TV show' and I go 'no, no', but he takes down my details, and when he couldn't get in touch with Sandi, he got in touch with me.

"He said 'we'll bring a pizza down' and I said 'well, come in!'."

They explained to Sandra that all they needed to do was sit down and watch TV, and the rest was history.

What followed was a rise to popularity, with Sandra saying she once even stole the limelight from David Beckham at a book signing shortly after the show began.

Talking about why the show was so popular, Sandi said: "Somebody has to connect with at least one of the families, you can't watch it and say you don't connect with at least somebody from one of the families, and that's what makes it so amazing."

Sandra added: "Gogglebox is also a show which brings families together."
