Gyles told the BBC: "There was a coughing fit just nearby. I thought 'What’s going to happen now…'

"And Dame Emma Thompson was fumbling in her bag and produced a cough sweet which was then passed down the row and given to the cougher then they stopped, which was wonderful, because we were having such music."

After spilling his insider gossip, Gyles also gushed over being selected to attend the royal event, as he said: "It was deeply moving to be there in the place where for 1000 years and more sovereigns have all been crowned, and to witness the crowning of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

"I looked around at that very moment and there were tears in a lot of people’s eyes, it was a very moving moment.

"A magnificent day, but a human day as well."

Gyles was one of many famous faces in attendance at the official Coronation ceremony, including Ant and Dec, Dame Judi Dench, Sir Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Katy Perry and Amanda Holden.

The Coronation celebrations continue as King Charles and Queen Camilla will watch on as a star studded Coronation concert takes place to mark the momentuous occasion including top performances from Take That, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Paloma Faith and Olly Murs amongst others.

The concert will air from 8pm on BBC One.
