GMB’s Charlotte Hawkins shares unseen picture as a child
On Tuesday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, hosts Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley were speaking about images from their childhood. It comes after The Princess of Wales recently released an image of herself as a toddler during Christmas in the 1980s.
In a bid to encourage more people to share their own images from their childhoods, Charlotte commented: “I’ve dug through the archives of mine. I think we’ve got it now, this is me with my granny at our house!”
Viewers were then shown an image of a young Charlotte holding up a toy dog while her grandma sat on the sofa in the background. The Good Morning Britain host told Richard the snap was taken when she was about four years old.
She continued: “This was one of those dogs that walks and barks, so I was extremely proud of this Christmas present. That was the first dog I got in its initial form, I think that’s what started my love of dogs.”
As Richard questioned what she called the toy pooch, Charlotte admitted she had forgotten before highlighting how “70s” the photograph was. She added: “We’ve got the brown patterned sofa, brown patterned curtains and loads of tinsel on the tree!”

Taking a jibe at the dated snap, Sean Fletcher quipped: “I didn’t think you were born in the 60s?! It looks like a long time ago.”
However, the throwback snaps didn’t stop there as Richard was surprised by the show with an image from his childhood.
A photograph of a young 67-year-old appeared on-screen in a yellow polo top and shorts sitting next to his mother.
Shocked by the snap, he commented: “That’s my sixth birthday with my mm at Epping forest.

“We used to have a picnic every year on the 13th of May. Good ol’ mum, wasn’t my mum pretty?”
Sadly, Richard’s mother Mary Claire died in March 2014 at the age of 82 after suffering from both Alzheimer’s and a three-year battle with lung cancer.
Speaking Exclusively to Express.co.uk two years ago, Richard opened up about learning the news of his mother’s health.
The Good Morning Britain star had stated that his mother was diagnosed with both diseases on the same day.
He said: “I remember her calling me up the day that she got the diagnosis. From the outset, I remember her saying two things.
“She said that she felt she had a good life, which was longer than she expected.
“She specifically said that she hoped that it was the big C that would take her, and not the Alzheimer’s.”
Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
