Harry and Meghans Netflix series delayed after The Crown backlash

It has been reported that Prince Harry and Meghan' s multi-million pound Netflix series is set to be delayed.

This comes after Netflix received a furious backlash with the latest season of the royal drama The Crown.

The Crown has been accused of making up a "hurtful" smear against King Charles after a fictional storyline was created where he plans to oust The Queen.

A source told Hollywood news website Deadline : "They’re rattled at Netflix, and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary."

The fifth series of The Crown will cover the years from 1991 to 1997 including Diana's ground-breaking interview.

King Charles, played by Dominic West, is shown to be lobbying the Prime Minister at the time, John Major, to attempt to force his mother’s abdication.

According to a source of The Daily Mail, the media outrage and the "lack of sensitivity following the Queen's death is "spooking" the streaming giant.

The source said: "The show has never been about sensationalism but it has also always been a drama. For the first years it seemed that everyone was happy to tolerate it."

The Documentary was supposed the be released in December but it has been reported that it has been pushed back.

It comes after there has already been reports of "contradictions" between Prince Harry's upcoming memoir and the Netflix package that has left producers confused,

A Netflix source said: "A lot in the show contradicted what Harry has written, so that was an issue.

"Then Harry and Meghan made significant requests to walk back content they themselves have provided, for their own project."

Prince Harry is set to release his book next year after rumoured changes and delays.

Both Netflix and Penguin Publishing House are said to be hesitant to allow for such grand changes, with one expert believing they are "stuck with the devil".

Expert Tom Bower, reported by The Mirror, had said: "They need the money and they need it now more than ever. Because they've got no other source of income. So I think they're just stuck with the devil now.

"They're tied to Netflix, they're tied to their book. And all the criticism they're going to take means nothing because that's the only way they can earn their money."
