Heres the reason Bake Off has been pulled off air in schedule shake-up

GBBO: Abbi in tears as she is the next baker eliminated

The Great British Bake Off has been moved to a different day in its TV schedule, and fans are not very happy about it.

The Channel 4 baking show will be aired on Wednesday evening instead of its usual Tuesday slot time in order to accommodate the football match between England and Italy.

Whilst this is a one-off in the latest TV shake-up, many Bake Off fans are less than impressed with the new date.

Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, one viewer fumed: “Bake off is Wednesday this week because of something called ‘football'”, completed with a grimacing emoji. (sic)

A second person commented: “Really @channel4? Bake Off gets moved due to the football by 24hrs but @granddesigns gets moved a whole week as a result? No show till 24/10 is really out of order!!!!” (sic)

A third typed: “NO BAKE OFF TILL WEDNESDAY BECAUSE OF THE FOOTBALL I DO NOT CARE GIVE ME BAKE OFF #gbbo.” (sic)

A fourth penned: “BAKE OFF HAS BEEN MOVED TO WEDNESDAY BC OF FOOTBALL????? ohhhh I’m fuming.” (sic)

A fifth person chimed in: “Football can get in the sea. Bake Off cancelled tonight because of it. I hope England lose.”

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has posted on their official X account: “IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: The football is on tonight so Bake Off And Don’t Look Down are on tomorrow night. We are posting this now so we don’t get loads of messages at 8pm asking why the Bake Off Tent has been replaced by Wembley.”

Last week, the bakers put their bread skills to the test with a number of serious challenges.

Unfortunately it meant that one talented baker had to leave the Bake Off tent and after three weeks, Abbi said her goodbyes.

Despite being eliminated, Abbi remained in high spirits and said that she had a “truly wonderful time.”

She said: “I’m really proud of myself. I’d never thought I’d be able to do this.

“It’s given me such a massive confidence boost and I’ve met such amazing people.”

The Great British Bake Off resumes on Wednesday 18th October on Channel 4 at 8pm.
