Holly Willoughby makes social media return for first time after queue-jumping row

Holly Willoughby has taken to social media to post for the first time since the queue-jumping row erupted last week.

The 41 year old This Morning presenter has kept a low social media profile since she and and co-host Phillip Schofield were met with furious backlash after many thought they'd skipped the hours-long wait to see the Queen's coffin.

But the mum-of-three broke her off-screen silence with a post on Instagram on Friday morning.

On her Instagram stories, she shared a post by her pal and fellow TV presenter Lisa Snowdon about winning Celebrity Masterchef.

Holly added the words "congrats" and "well done clever lady" with a heart emoji alongside a photo of a smiling Lisa in her apron holding her Masterchef trophy.

It was her first social media post since 12 September, when she shared photos of cards written by her three children to the Queen following her Majesty's death with her eight million Instagram followers.

Holly also shared a snap of kids Chester, seven, Belle, 11, and Harry, 13 – who she shares with her TV producer husband Dan Baldwin – looking at floral tributes and paying their respects outside Buckingham Palace.

The TV personality, who also hosts Dancing on Ice with Phil, 60, addressed the queue-jumping controversy on This Morning on Tuesday, strenuously denying they had filed past the Queen or taken the place of any waiting mourners.

But the pair have otherwise been noticeably silent publicly and online.

On Tuesday on This Morning, the pair insisted they were there "strictly for the purpose of reporting on the event" and, as members of the press, were escorted around the edge of Westminster Hall to a media area at the back.

Holly said: "In contrast, those paying respect walked along a carpeted area besides the coffin and were given time to pause.

"None of the broadcasters and journalists there took anyone's place in the queue and no one filed past the Queen."

She added: "We realise that it may have looked like something else… and therefore totally understand the reaction. Please know, that we would never jump a queue!"

Phil and Holly have been trolled online amid the claims they had received VIP treatment to view the Queen lying-in-state ahead of mourners waiting in the queue, which at point had a 24-hour wait.

The furious backlash has even led to a petition calling for them to be sacked, which has now been signed by more than 50,000 people.

Months ago Holly admitted in her autobiography that she had begun censoring her own opinions for fear of being criticised for things she didn't say, after having her words twisted on social media.

She wrote: "I find myself almost regurgitating what other people have said because I don’t know what to say anymore."
