Holly Willoughby will be making a cameo in an upcoming episode of the long-running murder mystery Midsomer Murders.
A first look at Holly's stint on the show was shown during Wednesday's Good Morning Britain, when hosts Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley were joined by the show's star Neil Dudgeon, who plays DCI John Barnaby.
Viewers were treated to a sneak peek at the This Morning presenter's cameo, which saw John Barnaby and DS Jamie Winter (Nick Hendrix) arrive at what seemed to be a celebrity meet-and-greet.
As the men enter, Nick asks: "Is that the queen of daytime?" to which his older colleague responds: "Gloria Hunniford? Are you sure?"
Following the clip Richard declared: "That's Holly!" as Kate asks: "What's she doing cropping up in Midsomer?"
Discussing the daytime TV star's appearance on the show, Neil explained: "Well, she's sort of a friend of the show I suppose – she's a great fan of the show and we're always looking to broaden our casting net.
"Somebody, somewhere thought, ‘Why don’t we ask her to be in the show?’"
Revealing more about the character she plays, Neil added: "I think she was a bit nervous when she first arrived. She’s playing a character called Holly Willoughby, I wouldn’t like to say that it’s herself."
The episode, which was filmed two years, was previously discussed by Holly herself when Neil appeared on This Morning back in 2021, following the episode's filming.
At the time Holly told her then co-host Phillip Schofield: "'I thought it was just interesting people would turn to a series about murder and death for escapism. People have found it a joyous escape from the horrors of real life.
"My episode involves a murder mystery country house party weekend. Barnaby and Winter turn up to investigate. Everyone is trapped on this island with a murderer."
The ITV star was offered the role during an interview on This Morning in March 2021, where she teared up before revealing: "I’ve seen every episode since it started way back when."
She then shared a video of herself on set in May of the same year, which saw her pose with the director’s clapperboard, writing: "Today is the day… @officialmidsomer…excitement levels off the chart!”
Holly is currently on her summer break from This Morning, with Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes presenting the show this week.
