Hollyoaks’ Lucy-Jo Hudson’s life – co-star split, rival soap role and new beau

Actress Lucy-Jo Hudson has had her fair share of soap opera fame, from her award winning role in Doctors, to walking the cobbled streets of Corrie and wreaking havoc in Hollyoaks.

Take a look at Hudson’s life, both in and outside of her on-screen stardom.

The Yorkshire lass is the sister of former rugby league player Ryan Hudson, who played for Great Britain.

Before her Coronation Street stint from 2002 to 2005, the star was a professional dancer and acted in theatres.

She played Katy Harris on the long-running soap but her character was unable to live with the guilt of murdering her father Thomas Craig, so she committed suicide by drinking water mixed with sugar – a deadly combination for a diabetic.

Marriage

Lucy-Jo married fellow Corrie co-star Alan Halsall, who plays the lovable Tyrone Dobbs on the cobbles.

The pair were wed and she gave birth to their daughter Sienna Rae in 2013, but the couple split three years later.

They managed to rekindle their romance a few weeks later but it wasn’t meant to be and the pair eventually split in 2018.

Lucy-Jo spoke to OK! Magazine and said that despite their best attempts, she admitted co-parenting is “challenging”.

She said: “Everybody who has a blended family knows it’s not easy. You can’t pretend that it is.”

Alan took a dig at her new partner back in 2020 after they took to Instagram to share the news of the couple’s new child.

Alan hit back and accused him of calling Sienna his own: “You’re welcome to keep the lying, cheating one and call her your own, but not my daughter!"

Family Home

The actress has since moved on and now lives with her partner Lewis Devine, with whom she has been with since 2018 and shares their son, Carter Ray.

Lucy-Jo and Lewis both battled Covid-19 together in 2021 and the Hollyoaks star was forced to call an ambulance after her partner coughed up blood.

She admitted it took them a while to get over the virus as they also had to tend to their newborn, which kept them up at night.

The smitten pair originally met one Christmas after they both starred in the same pantomime together and they reportedly hit it off immediately.

A source said that they “shared an instant chemistry” but as she was married she “didn’t act upon it”.

Hudson moved in with her partner six months after she split from Alan and the happy couple now enjoy providing for the kids together.

Lucy-Jo allowed OK! Magazine inside her lavish home and her daughter Sienna showed off her personal playroom, which houses the child’s extensive toy collection and dress-up outfits.

Doctors

Lucy-Jo played Rhiannon Davis on Doctors and was introduced as a heavily pregnant drug addict, whose first child was taken away by social services.

She was charged with murder after she shook her second child to death because he “wouldn’t stop crying”.

The character earned Lucy-Jo a British Soap Award for Villain Of The Year on 2017, but the actress was surprised at the nomination.

She said that she was “shocked” as she was “not your stereotypical villain” and more of a “depressed character”.
