Vernon also presented his own Radio 1 show between 2004 and 2012.
From 2015 until 2017 he fronted a show on Radio X.
In 2023, it was announced Kay would take over the mid-morning spot on BBC Radio 2 after the departure of Ken Bruce.

Vernon met Tess in 2001 when he was hosting T4.
The pair then married in 2003 in Horwich, near Vernon's native Bolton.
They even presented BBC singing competition Just The Two Of Us together from 2006 to 2007.
Tess is of course famous for hosting Strictly Come Dancing.

The couple have two children together.
