THE popular 90s show is returning to TV next week after it got cancelled and was put on a long break off screen.

The series returned last month on Channel 5 but it reportedly received low viewing figures and it got pulled after just three episodes.

Now, Challenge Anneka is back with a new time slot.

The iconic 90s show will air on Channel 5 on the 14th May, Sunday, 7.30pm.

Challenge Anneka is a British entertainment reality programme that originally aired on BBC 1 from 8 September 1989 to 15 October 1995 and is hosted by Anneka Rice.

They continued: "We hope viewers will tune in in May and enjoy watching Anneka and the amazing army of volunteers she gets to join her, in this important – and at times, very emotional – project."

In the third episode, Anneka will be entrusted with constructing seven stores, a village green, stunning landscaping, and an onsite cafe where carers can rest and relax.

As if that weren't enough, the squad must also arrange a party to commemorate its debut.

A Channel 5 spokesperson previously told The Sun at the time: "The first episode of Challenge Anneka was enjoyed by 1.25 million viewers, but Saturday evenings are always highly competitive, especially at this time of year. The public and critical reaction to Challenge Anneka’s return has been amazing and we have decided to preserve the remaining two shows and reschedule them soon."

"The public and critical reaction to Challenge Anneka’s return has been amazing and we have decided to preserve the remaining two shows and reschedule them soon.”

Following the news, former BBC Radio presenter Rice has broken her silence.

In a post to her fans, she said: "Thanks if you’ve watched so far! We always knew we were on a “floating schedule” so might be bumped off at any moment.

"We’ll keep you posted. The main thing for me is the projects are all up and running and I love & salute our army of volunteers who made this possible. Thank you."

She then shared an image with her unofficial co-host and sound man Dave and said: "Hey Dave. We’ve got 24 hours to find a new home."

Fans have been left devastated by the news and hit out at Channel 5 for pulling the show off air.
