I'm A Celebrity…South Africa fans were left fuming following a "brutal challenge" that saw Myleene Klass left in tears.

Following a trial on the popular ITV reality programme, EastEnders icon and challenge leader Dean Gaffney had to make a tricky decision and choose which contestant should be granted a phone call home.

Coronation Street actress Helen Flanagan was the lucky celeb given the chance to call her three young children – meaning Jordan Banjo and Myleene Klass lost out on speaking to their loved ones.

Dean explained that he chose Helen as Jordan was "strong enough," to last a little longer without speaking to his family – but former Hear'Say singer and radio presenter Myleene Klass was left in tears.

Dean explained that although Myleene was in tears following the decision, she and him were very close and that she would understand why the he chose Helen to receive the phone call home.

However, fans flocked to social media to complain about the challenge, with some calling it "brutal," – while others fumed at Dean Gaffney's decision.

"That was such a brutal challenge and I know Dean had to chose somebody but wow, that's so tough. Poor Myleene," said one viewer.

"Dean could have chose wiser," agreed a second.

A third penned: "Dear god poor poor poor Myleene," while a fourth commented: "That's a horrible task!!! All three should have been allowed to have called home."

Another added: "Myleene is a stronger woman than me. I would have tackled Helen to the ground."

Helen was delighted to speak to her children Matilda, Delilah and Charlie and could be heard saying during the episode: "It's made my day.

"It was so so good to speak to them. It's given me even more determination."

However another brutal decision is soon to follow, as two more celebs are set to be eliminated from the competition.

The celebs leaving the jungle will be decided on the results of the latest Bushtucker, Gold Rush, but fans of the show will have to wait until Monday's episode (May 8) for the result.

I'm A Celebrity South Africa airs Monday to Friday on ITV1 and ITVX at 9pm
