I’m A Celeb’s Ant and Dec share dream camp mate for next series

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have given I'm A Celebrity producers a tough task with their list of dream camp mates for this year's series – putting British astronaut Tim Peake at the top.

The Geordie duo are returning later this year for the 23rd series of the hit reality show and according to a source, the former military man-turned-space explorer is number one on their wish list.

The 51-year-old, who was the first British person to walk space, would join former footballer Roy Keane and The A Team actor Mr T if the pair get their way.

"Both Ant and Dec think Tim would be a fascinating signing for the show and bring another layer to the campfire chats," a source told The Sun.

According to the source, the pair think Tim's presence around the campfire would give the show some real "gravitas".

Ant and Dec are known for offering up a name or two, but the overall decision is down to the show producers, whose winning picks of the past include reality star Vicky Pattison, singer Matt Willis and Lioness Jill Scott, .

“Although Ant and Dec are show hosts they know the series inside out so producers are always really interested to have their input and collaborate with them on casting ideas to create the perfect chemistry," the insider told The Sun.

OK! has contacted ITV for comment.

It's not the first time the astronaut has been linked with the world of reality television. In 2019 a promo clip for Strictly Come Dancing sent fans into a frenzy when it referenced an "out of this world" contestant.

Speaking previously about his dream I'm A Celeb name, Ant 47, said he's holding out hope for Hollywood actor Mr T, known best for his role of B. A. Baracus in the 1980s show The A-Team, and as boxer Clubber Lang in Rocky III.

"Mr T. I always say Mr T. Mr T, please come and do the show," he said.

Other names in the mix this year include This Morning's Josie Gibson, and former EastEnders actress Danielle Harold, who left the BBC soap in May when her character Lola Pearce died of a brain tumour.

The actress, who won the Serial Drama Performance at this summer's National Television Awards for her incredibly emotional final scenes, is said to be in the final stages of talks to sign up.

Ant and Dec have also publicly begged Irish footballer Roy Keane to pack his bags for the jungle – and this year could the year their dream comes true.

Speaking to fans during the last series, Ant said, “You know what, Roy Keane would be very good. We’ve asked him on a few occasions. And he’s been close, he has been close to saying yes so maybe next year could be the year! So Come on Roy Keane. Do it for the lads, son.”
