Diana wouldnt be proud that William and Harry not talking says, her ex butler

Princess Diana “wouldn’t be proud of the fact” that her sons Prince William and Prince Harry are reportedly not talking, says a former royal butler.

Paul Burrel, 64, a former servant of the British Royal Household and butler to Diana, Princess of Wales, spoke about the brothers’ alleged “rift” on TalkTV.

The former butler spoke on the show’s segment The Talk, where he branded the royal rift “enormously sad” on the 25th anniversary of the Princess’s death.

Paul, who served as Diana’s butler between 1987 and her death in Paris in 1997, spoke candidly about Harry and William’s relationship.

He revealed: “It is an intensely private moment for the boys, and I think they’ll be commemorating their mother by speaking to their children and telling them how wonderful Granny Diana was.

"I think that will be William and Harry’s contribution. That rift is enormously sad for the people who care about William and Harry."

He added: “I still care about both those boys, watching them grow from tiny babies into fine young men and watching them go out into the world. Diana would be so proud of that.

“What she wouldn’t be proud of the fact they’re not speaking and that they’re oceans apart because she thought they were joined at the hip for the rest of their lives.”

It comes after reports claimed that the siblings had not seen eye to eye since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit the firm in early 2020 and moved out to the US.

With Harry’s new book due for publication soon, there may be no hope of them repairing their relationship in the near future, says expert Richard Fitzwilliams.

He told The Indo Daily’s podcast: “In my view, both brothers were inseparable. It’s in no doubt that one of the tragedies is that they have taken very different roads.”

“The problem is what is going to be in that book.”
