Industry casts Game of Thrones star Kit Harington for third season

Kit Harington teases Jon Snow ‘spin-off’

Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington has been announced as a new addition to the BBC banking drama Industry as it returns for season three. The 36-year-old will play a recurring character called Henry Muck, the chief executive and founder of a green tech energy company named Lumi which is about to go public.

The hugely popular BBC show follows a group of young bankers as they try and pave their way in the cut throat world of high finance.

The London based drama is set in the fictional offices of Pierpoint and Co. in London and is a co-production with HBO in America who broadcast it over there.

This means Kit will be returning to the channel where he made his name playing Jon Snow in the fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

Last summer it was reported there was the possibility of a potential sequel to the show based around his character.

According to the rumours Harington would reprise the role, which would chronicle the character’s post Westeros story.

However, at a Game of Thrones convention in LA last December Harington couldn’t confirm anything about the production.

Instead he told the gathered fans that he felt his character got off lightly at the end of the series.

“When we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be,” the actor said.

“He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse.”

The 36-year-old actor is currently expecting his second child with his wife Rose Leslie after they welcomed their first child, a son, in February 2021.

Fans won’t have long to wait for season three of Industry which begins filming later this month.

Harington joins the show at a pivotal time for the long standing characters.

The dramatic second series saw the employees no longer able to hide behind their graduate status.

They found themselves at the mercy of Pierpoint’s post Covid back-to-work-or-else mandate and also had to contend with the arrival of US management.

In season three the company will take a big bet on ethical investing which is where Harington’s character comes in.

The young bankers find themselves front and centre in the IPO of his character’s company LUMI.

It has been teased the storyline will run all the way to the very top of finance, media and government.
