Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke is one of the original stars of the show having been part of it since day one.

The show launched in 2004 and he began his journey by being on of the professional dancers.

Though he took things up a notch when he was promoted to TV judge on the series in 2020.

Strictly viewers have loved watching the star on screen over the years but do they really know much about his life off screen?

To find out more, keep scrolling…

    Real name

Before Strictly kicked off, Anton was also known by a different name.

According to reports, he was christened as Anthony Beke, but known by close pals as Tony Beke.

He was born to his Hungarian father, Antal Xavier Beke, and his Spanish mother, Ascensión 'Conchita' Lema.

As his dancing career excelled, Anton started asking folk to call him Anton Beke, though his pals aren't entirely sure where the 'Du' came from.

    Hidden age

Although his name is now what it seems, it may also be the case with his age, as he's always been suspiciously mysterious about how old he is.

Over the years, Anton always brushed off questions surrounding his age despite it always being confirmed that he was the show's oldest dancer.

He once did imply that it is probably somewhere between 29 – 42 but has since been revealed that he is in fact 57 years old.

    Hair transplant

In 2017, he announced the news he underwent a secret hair transplant in as he aimed for a more youthful look.

This came after he became more and more paranoid about his thinning hair after watching himself back on TV.

He used makeup and posing tactics to try and cover his insecurity up, but inevitably ended up at a Dublin clinic to resolve his issue.

Anton previously spoke about his "painful" procedure to The Mirror and said: "I think the one big thing for men is their hair. Women have all their things… but men have hair.

"I was looking at photos and images of myself on television and saw it was going a bit thin at the front.

"I'd cover it with make-up and make sure I didn't stand under certain lights. Basically, I didn't like it very much.

"Immediately after having it done I was delighted. I knew it was the best thing I'd ever done. I'd be happy to tell all men to do it."

Luckily for Anton, no one even realised he had gone under the knife but was so pleased with his results that he ended up "telling everyone".

He added: "I was so happy I ended up telling everyone.

"I feel 25 again. It's given me so much more confidence when appearing on television or having my picture taken."

    Stabbed by dad

Anton has also opened up about being stabbed by his own dad during the upcoming episode of Kate Garraway's Life Stories.

Anton told the host: “The alcoholism and the violence…(it was) towards me, because I was a boy, a young man I suppose.

“You’ve got an alcoholic father and a situation where if you’re in the house (he’s) drinking then you end up with the fights and stuff.

“You’d move room to get away from all of it and then he follows you in and the next thing you know the violence starts and then it came to a head one evening, I ended up in hospital for three days.

Struggling to contain his emotions, Anton continued: “I got stabbed, I’ve never said this out loud before.

“I got stabbed in the leg and in the stomach because of a fight on Boxing Day and it was an idiotic situation.

“I remember walking out of the house to walk up to the hospital holding my leg and a police car drove past and I waved them down and I said ‘he’s in there with a knife’.

"Anyway, they carted him off and I ended up in hospital for three or four days.”

    Lavish family life

Anton lives in a gorgeous country home with his wife Hannah Summers and their twins, George and Henrie, 6.

Over the years, Anton has given fans little glimpses of his sprawling home through social media and TV appearances.

He showed off his rustic kitchen during a video appearance on ITV's This Morning and also showed his living room off during lockdown when he performed dance sessions for his followers.

Anton is also estimated to have a net worth of £7.7 million.
