Inside the life of Emmerdales Debbie Dingle actress and return to soap

Emmerdale: Cain and Debbie Dingle leave for Scotland

The Dingle family has been a huge part of Emmerdale since it began, with Zak Dingle (played by Steve Halliwell) at the forefront of the family.

Zak is the father to Sam (James Hooton), Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).

He is also the uncle to Mandy (Lisa Riley), Chas (Lucy Pargeter), and Marlon (Mark Charnock).

His grandchildren include Debbie (Charley Webb), Nate (Jurrell Carter), Samson (Sam Hall), Kyle (Huey Quinn), and Isaac (Bobby Dunsmuir) – while Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) is his great-granddaughter.

Zak is also related to Charity (Emma Atkins), Noah (Jack Downham), and Moses (Arthur Cockroft) through his cousin, Charity’s father, Obadiah (Paul Copley).

Charity and her cousin Cain had a fling which resulted in the birth of Debbie.

Where is Charley Webb now and could she return to the Dales as Debbie Dingle? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.

Charley Webb played Debbie for 19 years before she decided to leave the ITV soap.

The actress is married to David Metcalfe star Matthew Wolfenden, and the duo share three children together.

David is still a staple on the ITV soap, and fans remain hopeful that Charley will return.

Debbie, who moved away to Scotland, is often mentioned on Emmerdale.

Most recently, Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) went to stay with Debbie to try and conceal the father of her unborn child.

However, she soon returned to the village with Sarah to have her baby.

It is unclear whether Charley will ever return to the soap, but she did share a cryptic post on Instagram at the beginning of the year.

Over the top of a picture of her, husband and three kids, she wrote: “This is always my most asked question but I’ve never answered it before because I’ve never wanted to make a big deal of it.

“I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back [to Emmerdale] at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline.

“So, I guess officially it’s been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn’t.”

Charley is also in touch with a lot of her former co-stars including Sammy Winward, who played Katie Sugden on the ITV soap.

In another one of her social media posts, Charley shared a snap with her onscreen mum, Charity.

She wrote: “I will forever love my old work family.

“My heart feels so full and grateful they came into my life all those years ago. They will last a lifetime.”

Charley has been busy raising her three children since leaving Emmerdale, however, she recently returned to work.

She confirmed two new projects she was filming following her exit from the Dales.

Sharing an excited mirror selfie, the former soap star wrote: “Costume fitting today for my new job. I’m excited for the next 2 projects I’m filming over the summer and to get back on screen.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV.
